These are AWESOME! I walk barefoot a lot and I had noticed my arches starting to hurt. I did some research on these and they are designed with the intention of strengthening the muscles in your feet and boy do they! I also have a bone spur on my heel and it hurts less when I wear these shoes. And did I mention it's like you're walking barefoot with a nice sturdy divider between your foot and the sharp nasty things that can be on the ground! Very cool and worth every penny! I'm going to have to get another color soon! Oh and they're machine washable too!

The first to fit my feet with no discomfort. Wow, Vibram has created a shoe designed to fit a healthy toe spread! No more cramming toes into disfiguring shoes. If you like to go barefoot a lot, or you do yoga or you just have a healthy natural toe spread, then you will love these shoes as well. They are not pretty, no doubt about it, but the extreme comfort compensates for it a hundred times over. I use mine when I am exercising outdoors or doing "sporty" activities. Otherwise, I am usually in open toe sandals or barefoot. Based on the fivefingers sizing chart, I thought I was going to be a size 38, but I was planning to wear mine with toe socks so I decided to try them on locally. I ended up purchasing a size 39 so I suggest sizing up if you have doubts. They do take a little longer to put on, but that gets quicker with practice. Also, if you are not accustomed to being "barefoot", prepare to work muscles in your feet and legs that you may not have used before.

  If the pain is muscular, this is most likely due to your feet not being used to the shoe and is usually nothing to worry about, just allow time for your feet to adapt. Slight discomfort is likely during the first few wears of the Fivefingers. If the discomfort continues and is more joint orientated, seek medical advice.
